Bulletin N. 2 – January 2004

 

1.     General Information

NuInt04, the third International Workshop on neutrino-nucleus Interactions in the

Few-GeV region, will be held at the INFN Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS), Assergi Italy, from Wednesday March 17^th to Sunday March 21^st, 2004.

2.    Scientific Program

The main topics of NuINT04 at LNGS include the following:

 

·      Neutrino-nucleus interactions, and their relation to neutrino oscillations, astrophysics, and proton decay studies

·      Review of electron-nucleus and neutrino-nucleus interactions

·      Theoretical review of intermediate energy neutrino-nucleon interactions and nuclear effects

·      Comparison of neutrino event generators

·      Future high precision experiments to study neutrino-nucleus interactions

 

Special topic:

·      “Research on Nuclear Structure” by A. Bodek

[APS - Panofsky Prize in Experimental Particle Physics 2004]

 

 

 

3.    Preliminary conference schedule

A preliminary layout of the NuInt04 scientific program is now posted on the conference website (see “Scientific program” from the menu in the main page). Titles of the talks have been assigned. Names of the speakers in some cases have to be confirmed.

 

4.   Abstracts, Transparencies and Proceedings

The Abstracts of the talks included in the program will be posted on the web page before the start of the Workshop to allow preliminary survey of the material and fruitful discussions during the sessions. Submission of abstracts can be performed by filling in a form on the web page (see “Abstract Submission”).

 

Copies of the transparencies will also be available on the conference website as soon as available.

Proceedings of the Workshop will be published as a separate volume of Nuclear Physics B (Proceedings Supplement).

 

5.     Poster Session

A Poster Session is being organized for the workshop. Proposals for poster contributions should be sent to the Convener of the poster session. Submission of poster abstracts can be performed by filling in a form on the web page (see “Poster Abstract Submission”).

 

6.   Registration

Registration can be done by filling in the form available on the website (see “Registration Form”). Participants are kindly requested to register no later than February 20^th.

 

7.    Travel arrangements

For Visas, see Bulletin. N.1 on the web page.

Transportation from Rome-Fiumicino Airport to the GranSasso Lab will be organized for conference participants with dedicated shuttle service on March 16th (late evening) and on March 17th (early morning), to coincide with the arrival of the main flights from Japan and the US. Shuttle service to the Airport at the end of the Conference is also available (Detailed information about the airport shuttle service will be given on the web page).

Transportation from hotels to the conference site and back will be arranged for the start and end of each day’s sessions. Other information is available on the website (see “Travel Information”).

 

8.   Accommodation

A number of rooms have been booked at some hotels. Participants are required to confirm their reservation by fax directly to the hotel. Instructions and hotel/price list are available on the web page ( see “Accommodation”).

 

 

9.   Conference Fees

The fee for the conference is 120 Eu.

It includes: proceedings, transportation, a welcome reception, and coffee breaks during the workshop.

Payment of the conference fees must be done upon arrival at the workshop reception desk. ONLY Cash is accepted (NO Credit Cards).

 

10.         Social Events and meals

Lunches will be served at the GranSasso Lab Restaurant during the week and by a catering service Saturday and Sunday. A social dinner will be held on Friday night.

 

A ticket package including four lunches and the social dinner can be purchased at the workshop reception desk (price: 85 Eu).

 

11.  Further Information

Further information will be circulated in the Bulletin N.3 by the end of February 2004.
